At Home Holiday Lattes

I love Christmas and the holiday season. I love coffee and lattes and Starbucks. I hate spending $6+ on a fancy holiday latte that I could probably make at home but am too lazy to try. Until now!! We’ve been making homemade lattes since May when Peter bought me a milk frother for Mother’s Day and it’s probably one of the best gifts ever. We really like trying new recipes and trying to recreate Starbucks drinks to ease the hurt my wallet has felt (being on mat leave is the easiest way to justify daily trips to Starbucks in my head).

The milk frother we own is from Keurig; we bought it off Amazon and it does the job perfectly. We also use Starbucks ground coffee (right now we’re using their holiday blend because hello, Christmas but usually use their True North or Caramel), as well as regular half and half for the frothy milk (or sometimes almond milk – less froth but healthier).

We follow the same kind of loose recipe: syrups/flavours in the bottom of the mug, brew coffee into mug (then give it a stir to make sure its combined), add frothed milk on top, and add any additional toppings (syrups, spices, etc)!

I wanted to put this blog post together to share some of our favourite recipes for homemade holiday lattes! They’re really fast and easy, way cheaper and super yummy – I hope you enjoy!!

PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE

What you need:

Add one or two pumps of brown sugar cinnamon syrup to the bottom of your mug (I prefer my PSL’s a bit less sweet so I do one pump), and brew your coffee on top of it. Add the cream and the pumpkin pie spice to the frother, then pour your pumpkin pie frothed milk into the mug. Add a bit more pumpkin pie spice on top and sip, sip, enjoy your homemade PSL!

SALTED CARAMEL MOCHA

What you need:

Add some hot chocolate mix and salted caramel syrup to the bottom of your mug, and brew your coffee on top of it. Give it a mix, then add the almond milk to the frother and add the frothed milk into the mug. Drizzle it with some caramel sauce and – tada!! The tastiest, cheapest salted caramel mocha.

EGGNOG LATTE

What you need:

Add a pump or two of vanilla or salted caramel syrup to the bottom of your mug, and brew your coffee on top of it. Give it a mix, add the eggnog to the frother and give it a whirl. Add your frothed eggnog into the mug, sprinkle with cinnamon or nutmeg and there you have it – a delicious, homemade eggnog latte!

BROWN SUGAR CINNAMON LATTE

What you need:

Add a few pumps of brown sugar cinnamon syrup to the bottom of your mug, and brew your coffee on top of it. Give it a mix, add the almond milk to the frother, then pour your frothed milk into the mug. Add a sprinkle of cinnamon and now you have a comforting, sweet and spicy homemade brown sugar cinnamon latte.

Do you have any at home coffee recipes you make that you want to share? I’m always looking for new latte inspo!!
